Paint The Town welcomes Theatre Ad Infinitum for spring '17
Theatre Ad Infinitum is a multi- award winning theatre ensemble based in Bristol who specialise in physical theatre and mime.
Their work draws on the differences in culture, nationality and language found in their ensemble and they create works which aim to move, challenge or inspire the audience.
Theatre Ad Infinitum have received multiple awards at Edingburgh Fringe, UK and international arts festivals. Their fourth piece Translunar Paradise toured the world for over 4 years and this show (as well as their sixth show Light) included a sell- out run at London’s Barbican Theatre (International Mime Festival).
Bucket List is Theatre Ad Infinitum’s new show has visited Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews and is now engaging on a UK tour.
Nir Paldi – Co-Artistic Director
Nir Paldi is co-artistic director of Theatre Ad Infinitum. A writer, director, performer and facilitator, Nir’s training includes the two-year professional course at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and a degree in Psychology with the Open University.
Nir teamed up with George Mann to become co-artistic director of Theatre Ad Infinitum in 2009 and directed, co-adapted and co-devised the company’s multi-award winning Odyssey in 2009. Odyssey has toured the globe since its première in 2009 and seven years later continues to tour the world.
Nir wrote, directed and performs in Ballad of the Burning Star, another critically acclaimed multi-award winning sell out. Ballad won Nir his second Stage Award, this time for Best Ensemble and more recently an Off West End Award for it’s London run at Battersea Arts Centre in 2013; the production has toured extensively in the UK in 2013-15, in Norway, and in Toronto, Canada in May 2015.
Nir directed and wrote Ad Infinitum’s latest piece, Bucket List, which premiered at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival to critical acclaim and won the 2016 Spirit of the Fringe Award. Bucket List premiered in London at Battersea Arts Centre for 3 weeks 13 Feb-04 March 2017 before embarking on a 2 month UK tour, including Medway's Paint The Town festival.
As a freelance director working internationally, Nir co-wrote and directed Juana in a Million, which won him a Scotsman Fringe First Award at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival, ran for a month at Southwark Playhouse, London, in May 2013, and won the 2013 The United Solo Festival Award in New York City, USA. Nir co-wrote and directed Game of You, a new play in collaboration with Nadja Carli in Sao Paulo, Brazil, experimenting with sound design and projection mapping performed in April 2013. Nir spent a month in Mexico City directing and co-writing a new play, Milagros, commissioned by Vicky Araico Casas which is currently touring in Mexico.
Nir teaches theatre for both adults and young people, he is a visiting tutor at Rose Bruford College, and he has been leading Theatre Ad Infinitum’s Master Classes for industry professionals since 2009.
